UI Friction

This article discusses a study conducted by Pfeiffer Consulting on user productivity in Windows Vista. The study found that there was more “UI Friction” in Vista than Windows XP, which is worse than Mac OS X.
I find this interesting as I have intuitively felt that there was something about Windows XP that made me feel less productive than OS X, but I couldn’t spell out exactly what it was. This study is an attempt to quantify productivity by measuring all of the little variables that subtly impact efficiency.
